mostly wordless wednesday: ripley's aquarium of the smokies

Last post about our Smoky Mountain weekend, I promise.

We crossed the state line into Tennessee to visit Gatlinburg Saturday afternoon.  Dan and I had been there before and knew Mabes would enjoy all that there is to see and do there.  The main reason for the visit was to see the Ripley's Aquarium of the Smokies.  The girlie has been bugging to go to an aquarium for the last few months, so this was a major highlight for her.

I'm going to let most of the pictures speak for themselves.

Take special note of the facial expressions Mabes makes when we took her in the underwater tunnel and there were sharks above her in the next series of photos.  Someone was less than thrilled.  Dan and I decided to ignore the meltdown and carry on after reassuring her that she was perfectly safe.  Once she figured out we weren't lying and that the sharks couldn't get to her she was as happy as could be and declared the sharks and penguins her two favorite parts of the whole trip.

These giant crabs kind of freaked me out.  They aren't anything I would ever want to come across swimming around in the ocean:

We also got to watch penguins create paintings with their feet.
